update

Well I apologize for not updating sooner. Here is the update...

Went to the Bridal Expo and I was very disappointed. All the vendors that was scheduled to be there was not there. I was done in about an hour. We even went to a couple of booths twice. We did not wait for the fashion show - that was another 1.5 hours. SO what did we do, we went to Hard Rock Cafe (Downtown Phoenix) and had dinner. After dinner we went to my booster meeting for football. This was also election night for officers for next year.

I ran for co-vice president. Say congrats to me. Starting Jan 09 (I believe), I will begin my new role. Currently I am the historian for the football boosters. I have served in this role for two consecutive years and it was time for change. SO I decided to run for co-vice presidency. I received a lot of support. There was even some support and suggestions that I run for Pres next year. We will have to see about that one since Darius will be a senior next year. I will have to seriously pray on that. So for right now let's just take one day at a time.

Wow, check this out. My post is supposed to be on the Bridal Expo and I talked more about the football boosters. Ha Ha that is funny.

Well next week I will be making some calls to reception halls to set up appointments to visit their locations and maybe even a food tasting. Who said planning a wedding is fun...it is to a certain pointe, but not something that I want to do forever.

Next Tuesday...

I will be going to a Bridal Expo. I am so excited about this. I am now a little ahead of the game as to what I am looking for. One from the bridal show I went to last month, and then from this fabulous wedding book that Rebecca (my co-worker) gave me as a gift. This book rocks!!!! Thanks Rebecca. It gives me some neat questions to ask the vendors, some ideas, and different folders to store things of my liking. Man I love this book. I was looking for a book and Rebecca was reading my mind.

I will be posting my experience from the Bridal Expo. Wish me luck. Hopefully it is a big event.

I am so excited.

Phoenix Bridal Show @ University of Phoenix Stadium

Okay, Cooky and I went to the bridal show today. When I was going table to table I was just collecting information to see what is out here in Arizona. I was excited to go and skeptical not really knowing what to expect. I brought a suitcase with me to the show. I was prepared to obtain as much as I could...I wasn't playing!!!

It was a alot of vendors there telling you about their services and looking at all the pretty cakes. Unfortunately, I did not taste many cakes because I do not do fillings that well. But I did come out of my element and tried a few. They were ok to me and probably the best to others.

Very nice presentations of cakes

And they can even add my "C's" on the boxes for my Coach

Can I tell you that I was not overwhelmed while at the show. Do you know when it hit me. Later this evening when I looked into the suitcase filled with cards, pamphlets, books, and papers. I looked in there and was like: WOAH!!! I didn't realize how much we collected until hours later when I woke up from my nap.

Whats the next step...going through the suitcase and organizing the items. Then seeing what we will potentially want and do some tours. OH MAN!! James you are so lucky not to live here in Arizona. But you best believe that your visits will be full of visits to the vendors as well. That's what love is all about. No I'm playing Honey. I know that you want to be here and help in every step of the planning. Right now it is just the beginning stages and I am doing the leg work to get the information for us to make our ultimate decisions for our special day.

cont. from "He popped the question"

Ok where did I leave off. Oh yeah, the flowers came and then he stepped around the corner. Wow what a surprise.

He came over to me and kissed me and then asked me to take off my promise ring. I asked him why was he taking it. So then he stated where would you like for me to put it. I then put it in my pocket...I think anyway's.

He began to profess his love for me for the past 12 years. How he is glad that God sent me his way. He said that he knows that he has made mistakes in the past and one of the mistakes was letting me go (essentially hiding his feelings behind our friendship). When I gave you the promise ring earlier, I told you that i was going to be there forever, now would you do me that honors and become my wife. But here is the kicker, he had this costume ring that he was placing on my pinky finger. I looked at it like okay this mofo done lost his mind!!! Before I knew it, yeah I did what no one would ever dream of doing...I slapped him....Honey I am sorry, I didn't mean it. But that was the highlight of it all because he never saw it coming. He was like OH WOW.. then he asked my son to give him the real ring. I turned to my son as asked how and when did he get the ring. Well basically the rest is history. He really popped the question again and I said YES!!!

During the whole thing I was teasing him because his hands was shaking. When I realized what he was going to do I started to tell him he had to get down on his knee, but I promise you, he probably wouldn't be able to get up since he was so so so nervous.

I will post the photos from Thursday of the family. I might even post the video (not sure if i want to embarrass my sweetie just that much more.

To My Baby Yulanda

Yulanda,
For the one that i love, I'm so glad God sent you to me. I use to pray that God would help me find the right person to share my love... I prayed for a soul mate someone who'd understand me in a place beyond words... I prayed for a partner to help me be the best person that i could be.... A guiding light to help me keep the faith through life twists and turns.... Then one day, God answered my prayer. He sent you to me, and ever since I've never stopped believing in the amazing love he's giving us to share.

Yulanda my mission statement to you is to
Love You, love you and love you more.

Love you so much
James

He popped the question

Well it was such and eventful Thursday night after work for me. I came home and my son, mother, and best friend wanted to go to dinner. We went to the Olive Garden in Chandler near my house. My fiance - James, is actually here in AZ, but sends me messages that like he is back home in NY to throw me off. Okay now here is the list of events of what happened last night from 7:00 pm

1) my family and I are at dinner just waiting and talking. My son get's a phone call and he plays like it is one of his friends calling him and he could not hear so he excused himself from the table.

2) I receieve a text from James first telling me he was going to bed because he had to go to work very early in the morning before catching his plane at 11:45 am EST heading to AZ on 10/10/2008

3) Then a few minutes later another text comes through my phone (which I did not get at the time it came in because my phone was in my purse)...It reads: For the one I love I'm glad God sent you to me. I used to pray that God would help me find the right person to share my love...I prayed for a soulmate, someone who understand me - heart to heart in places beyond words...I prayed for a partner to help me be the best person I could be...A guilding light to help me keep the faith through all life's twists and turns...Then one day, God answered my prayers...He sent you to me and ever since I have never stopped believing in the amazing love He's given us to share.

Now baby please accept these flowers. Its all part of my love for you.

Then the waitress sent me these flowers.

I looked at her like where did those flowers come from? Why are you sending them to me? She just replied, they are for you. I am puzzled. Now a few seconds later, here he comes around the corner. AWW.

Okay sorry, but I have to walk out the door now. I will pick up and edit this post later today or tomorrow.
